The Control Systems Group at DigiCon Systems has been actively involved in automation projects for more than a decade and has successfully executed projects worldwide. Projects have been implemented on various hardware and software platforms and have included design and development of the HMI using third party software packages.

We offer complete control solutions and will be involved in your project from start to finish – design, hardware and software selection, detailed programming and implementation, HMI design and development, communications architecture design, FAT, SAT, and commissioning.

The primary areas of specialization include – turbo machinery control, combustion control, sulfur recovery unit control, and, distillation column control.

Turbo Machinery Control

The prepackaged turbo machinery control solution is a complete package, available on various PLC and DCS platforms, and includes the following features.

  • Advanced anti-surge control – includes operating point tracking, surge spike detection and compensation, etc.
  • Multiple control strategies to adapt to available field measurements and conditions
  • Integrated performance control –  includes capacity control, suction and discharge pressure control, and motor horsepower override
  • Load sharing – two runtime selectable algorithms included for load sharing (equidistant from surge line and equal loading)
  • Turbine speed control – includes automated startup, sequencing, and, shutdown.
  • Incipient surge detection and override control
  • Fallback strategies to ensure safe operations in case of transmitter failures or other exigencies
  • Surge testing provision

Combustion Control

A complete solution is offered and targeted towards upgrades/revamps of existing boiler controls. The prepackaged solution includes numerous advanced features such as the following.

  • Improved feedwater control to minimize shrink-swell phenomenon
  • Steam pressure optimization – minimize operating pressure for process applications and maximize operating pressure for cogen plants while minimizing turbine exhaust pressure
  • Excess air optimization to minimize emissions and reduce fuel consumption; includes “personality characterization” for each boiler/heater
  • Enhance the stack temperature plot to minimize excess air and flue gas temperature
  • Load allocation optimization to improve efficiency for networked boilers
  • Fallback strategies to ensure safe operations in case of transmitter failures or other exigencies

Upgrade from MICON P-200, S-32, and U-200 (MICON P200, MICON S32, MICON U200) Controllers

The engineers at DigiCon Systems are intimately familiar with all of the above MICON controllers and can provide support as well upgrade services for any control system based on these controllers. Similarly, we provide support and upgrades for the MICON AS-OPEN control system which is based on the MICON GPLI, MICON U-32 and MICON RCM modules.
